Every kitchen should have one of these fantastic composters - it allows virtually all food waste (including meat, fish, diary and cooked food) to be composted at home, reducing the amount of household waste for collection. The system uses a natural bran-based activator called Bokashi (sounds like a Kung Fu movie) that is coated in friendly bacteria. This Bokashi, along with the tight fitting lid, ensures that there are no nasty odours in the kitchen. And after a few days the contents can be added to a traditional compost bin. There's even a drip tap to allow you to drain off liquid feed for use on plants.

What can you put in a kitchen composter?


Just about all biodegradable waste. The food should be old or stale. Meat and fish needs to be cut into small pieces. Garden cuttings are fine but thick branches are not suitable. Here are some common items you might put in your kitchen composter:
