This is probably the funkiest toy we have! The Thorny Devil is a clever little blighter – able to change shades and channel water down its spine into its mouth. Ours is rather more concerned with looking good and standing out! The Thorny Devil has different coloured spikes all over his brightly coloured body and big round bug eyes. Playtimes will never be the same again now that Thorny Devil is on the scene!

He is made from 100% hand woven cotton, coloured with eco-friendly dyes and stuffed with kapok. His splayed out toes and legs allow him to hold onto things – you can even wear him on your head if you like! The dyes will not run or fade so he is washable, suckable and absolutely lovable for children of all ages. He has the European Safety Certificate. Colours of eyes and spikes may vary.

Made by Barefoot Toys established by Barbara Sansoni. Barefoot works almost exclusively with women, a tradition started by Barbara Sansoni over 30 years ago, who work in small rural workshops. Weaving centres across the island provide valuable employment to rural women, who have elevated their economic status by mastering weaving techniques. The women who weave participate in every stage of the making of the cloth, using eco-friendly traditional methods. The weavers are involved in a creative cognitive process.

Each product is made from start to finish by one person. The craft skills at Barefoot are timeless. Nothing is mass-produced. No child labour is used. All employees are given a decent wage and benefits. There are no factories and no production lines. Each worker is responsible for the quality of the final product. Barefoot teach the skills and strive for quality from the weavers and sewers. Each piece of work is a simple, yet timelessly beautiful and stylish article.
