A fun way to store those plastic supermarket bags for reuse, looks good and keeps them under control – this cow likes a tidy ship. Made from cotton and biodegradable, what more can we say other than it is a fun fair trade item!

By Christian Missions Charitable Trust (CMCT), India. Colleen Redit, who began CMCT in 1964, writes, ‘Our motto is, “Where there is no vision the people perish.” My aim was to teach vocational skills to poor communities, to give them independence and self-esteem. I began the Haven of Hope Handicraft Centre (run by CMCT) in a garage in Chennai.’
At the Centre more than 100 women and girls are trained and employed in tailoring and embroidery. There is also a hostel that is home to those who have nowhere else to live. Since its humble beginnings in a garage, the women are now housed in a purpose built centre, enabling CMCT to minister on a bigger scale and in a pleasant environment.
I needed to find a fun, inexpensive gift as a house-warming present and I thought that the Cow Tidy would be perfect. Fortunately they did too and it now hangs elegantly in their utility room!
